Larry Axelrod, Ph.D., CHRP
Larry Axelrod, is a highly experienced leadership consultant, educator and dispute resolution specialist and has been providing organizational consultation, education and training, and direct case intervention (mediation, assessment, investigation) for public and private sector organizations for the past 15 years. Holding Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of British Columbia, Larry has extensive knowledge in the areas of motivation, organizational behaviour, human rights and diversity, leadership practice, change management, effective communication and conflict resolution. Larry is co-author of "Turning Conflict into Profit: A Roadmap for Resolving Personal and Organizational Disputes," a top selling book from The University of Alberta Press.

Andrew Bates has been involved with microcomputer and small business accounting since 1978. He is a founding partner of Softrak Systems Inc. (1985), the developers of Adagio Accounting, launched in 1999.






Everett Colby, BSBA, ALA, CFE, FCGA
Everett Colby, is a public practitioner who owns a Porter Hetu International office, which is consistently ranked by the Bottom Line as one of Canada's top 20 public accounting firms. Everett also owns a forensic accounting firm North American Forensic Accountants and Fraud Investigators Inc. Everett is a member of CGA Ontario's Board of Governors, and, as chairman of CGA-Canada's National Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee, has appeared numerous times before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Banking and Finance regarding federal budget policy and other fiscal initiatives.

Michael Ell, is the sole proprietor of Michael F. Ell, CGA. He is a CGA-BC Public Practice Reviewer and a member of the Quarter-Century Club. Michael has spent most of his career in public practice and also has experience in government and industry. He develops and facilitates numerous courses for CGA-BC and CGA-Canada in areas relating to public practice and the CICA Handbook.




Karen Fiorini, CGA
Karen Fiorini, has worked in public practice for over 15 years. She currently maintains a part-time public practice and is the controller for the BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion. Karen recently completed her thesis on work-life balance and well-being of accountants in public practice.


Deborah Graystone, BSc, TEP, CGA
Deborah Graystone, is a tax principal in the Vancouver office of MacKay LLP, and a co-founder of TaxMentor Inc. Deborah is a tax and business advisor to a wide range of clients, from public companies to charitable organizations, but she focuses primarily on private corporations and entrepreneurs. In addition to co-authoring and facilitating the Tax Matters program, Deborah is a frequent author and lecturer for CGA-Canada and the provincial associations, and is the team leader and lecturer for the CGA PACE Level Taxation 2 course.

Ed Kroft, is a tax partner in the Vancouver office of McCarthy Tétrault, Barristers & Solicitors. He has lectured extensively on taxation issues and is a former governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation. Ed is a highly regarded speaker in CGA-BC's professional development programs and is the author of numerous articles on tax issues.




John Noonan, PRP, ASP, CGA
John Noonan, is a Professional Registered Parliamentarian, the Vice President of the Parliamentarians Association of British Columbia and an Internationally Accredited Speaker. He is a former International President of Toastmasters. Today, John practices as a communication consultant offering services as a registered parliamentarian, presentation skills trainer, and coach to association, government and corporate clients.

Nick Shepherd, is President of EduVision Inc. a company that provides consulting support, facilitation and professional development training to both public and private sector organizations. Nick writes numerous articles and books including - "Variance Analysis for Cost Performance Measurement," "The Controllers Handbook" and "Governance, Accountability and Sustainable Development - a new framework for the 21st century." Nick has been a Certified General Accountant for over 25 years, a Fellow of the Certified Management Consultants, and a Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK , Nick is also a member of MENSA.


Jacque Small
Jacque Small is a high-energy presenter, she utilizes the latest learning techniques to create a dynamic learning experience. She is noted for her success in establishing a positive atmosphere and experience within the seminar, which teams can replicate for themselves in their work setting. Prior to starting her own consulting practice, Jacque earned her CFA designation. She received her Master's of Economics at Simon Fraser University, and is a CEC from Royal Roads University. In addition to owning her own successful consulting practice, Jacque is an Executive Coach and Facilitator with Vertical Bridge Corporate Consulting, President of DRS Earthwise Society and past President of Delta Toastmasters.


Sue Wazny

Sue Wazny, Cert. ConRes., B.Sc., Dip. Leadership, has worked extensively as a workplace educator and intervener for the past 15 years. Her practice includes educational programs, workplace mediation, organizational facilitation, executive performance coaching, formal harassment investigation, and critical incident stress debriefing and management. Sue is completing her M.Sc. in Psychology this year, specializing in Behavioural Science.
